Dear Mr Ksar,

We have reviewed the list of character names and the code table for the encoding of N'Ko in ISO/IEC 10646, and we are satisfied that it meets all of our technical requirements for storage, processing, and interchange of N'Ko text.

We would like to reiterate our requirement for the three archaic letters to be encoded as characters distinct from the letters which replaced them. Making this distinction in plain text enables us to accurately represent relevant phases of N'Ko development, just as similar distinct characters enable such a distinction to be made for English and other European languages.

We would also like to repeat our support for the unique encoding of script-specific diacritics for all of the N'Ko tone marks. These differ in form and position from the "generic" marks encoded elsewhere in the standard, and it will facilitate font development and implementation for these to be encoded as they have been proposed in the draft under ballot.

Yours sincerely,
