Scope of this committee is:
Standardization of graphic character sets and their characteristics, including string ordering, associated control functions, their coded representation for information interchange and code extension techniques. Excluded: audio and picture coding.

WG 2 - Universal Coded Character Set

WG 2 is the international standardization working group for the coded character set UCS - the Universal Multiple-Octet Coded Character Set - ISO/IEC 10646. The scope is to develop a universal multiple-octet coded character set that encompasses the world's scripts. This is Work Item JTC1.02.18 - ISO/IEC 10646.
WG 2 has an Ideographic Rapprteur Group (IRG).
